Bethany Clarke Bromley

Bethany Clarke

Ms. Bromley has served as conductor of the Jamestown Community Band, music director at The Prout School in Wakefield, and interim director of the Lafayette Band and the Wakefield Concert Band. She earned two bachelors degrees in music as an honor student at the University of Rhode Island and is a certified music teacher in Rhode Island and Connecticut. A skilled saxophonist, Bethany also gives private instrumental and voice lessons.

Fittingly, Bethany continues the Lafayette Band’s deep tradition of music directors with ties to North Kingstown and North Kingstown High School, she, as well as her parents, are former NKHS students.

Ms. Bromley  is scheduled to make her first appearance as the Lafayette Band’s music director at the “Festival of Lights Concert” in Wickford on December 6.

Mr. Joseph Pelosi, 1963 - 2013

Joesph PelosiFor 50 years, Joseph R. Pelosi directed the Lafayette Band. He started teaching in the North Kingstown School System in the fall of 1959. During his 39 years as an educator, Joe taught all levels of instrumental music; 5th.grade, middle school and high school.


Joe is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor and Master of Music Education degree.

He served as president of RIMEA (Rhode Island Music Educators Association) and the RI Chapter of the International Association of Jazz Educators and he established the first RIMEA Jazz Festival which was hosted by NKHS for 25 years.

Joe has received numerous awards for excellence in music education and his symphonic bands and jazz ensembles have consistently been rated as among the finest in Rhode Island and New England.

Recently, the North Kingstown School Department dedicated the band room at the new high school as the Joseph R Pelosi Band Room.

Joe is a professional trumpet player and for many years a member of the Providence Federation of Musicians.
