7 Lafayette Band Musicians Play for Worldwide Taps Event |

On Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 19, the Lafayette Band trumpet section, along with other horn players, participated in the Echo Taps World Wide event. The musicians, trumpets Chuck Perhamus, Bob Vacca, George Sehl and John Smith, Euphonium Martin Hellewell (who organized members’ participation) and trombonists Denis Mello and Jack Thompson joined about three dozen other musicians from around the State at the ceremony. |

Band President Michael Muller was recently recognized as a “Volunteer of the Year” by the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Muller was chosen by the Lafayette Band’s Board of Directors for his hard work and leadership in the Band’s successful response to dire financial challenges and reorganizing of its governance and administrative operation. |

Band Receives Assistance from the RI General Assembly |

On April 11th, Rep. Ehrhardt presented a check for $1000.00 to the Lafayette Band who is celebrating its 125th Anniversary. The money is a grant from the RI General Assembly for the purpose of replacing music and purchasing new arrangements to appeal to our audiences. Rep. Ehrhardt sponsored the band's grant request.
